CFD in the studio: music, friendship, erotic literature

Some equipment we can't afford

‘ello, web-mates!  Boiling our way through the Atlanta summer, how about you?

We got back a few weeks ago from recording new songs for our upcoming album (!!!) and thought we’d share some of the audio visuals.  We were in South Carolina at the Jam Room Studios (where Band of Horses recorded), working with Jay Matheson.

We’re not gear rats by any means, so heading into the studio, we knew we didn’t have the world’s best equipment.  Mostly because it’s freaking expensive.  But the first thing Jay told us was, “Yeah, that’s not going to work at all!”  Actually, he said, “It’s gotta have NUTS!”  I guess all our equipment is female, who knew? Clap for Daylight Opens for Drivin’ N Cryin’

The 500 Songs for Kids event was awesome Wednesday night.  The place was packed and the coordinators were on top of their game.  There wasn’t any more than 3 minutes in between bands allowing for the most music possible for a night at Smith’s Olde Bar.

We ended up being the opening band for Drivin’ N Cryin’ with our rendition of The Beatles Hey Jude.   We were quite honored to be part of the event and even get to spend some time backstage with DNC before we took the stage.

Also a special thanks goes out to our honorary CFD members that helped us pull off this amazing show- Erin Vilines, Derek Tomello, Lou Davis, and Tessa Matthews!

500 Songs for Kids!

This Wednesday night, come on out to Smith’s Olde Bar to hear CFD perform as part of the 500 Songs for Kids event.  No joke- Smith’s is hosting hundreds of bands to perform 500 songs over 10 days.  It’s going to be an amazing event for a great cause.  Clap for Daylight goes on around 9 with a cover of “Hey Jude.”  We’ll have special guests on stage with us rockin’ out the “na na na na’s” at the end too!

Check out the schedule for all of the bands involved!  Tickets are just $10 and proceeds go to the Songs for Kids Foundation.

Drink Beer, Hear Music, Be Outside

That’s right.  The Clapwagon is hitching up again with Red Brick Brewery this Friday.  The weather is expected to be sunny and amazing so it’s looking like CFD will be performing outside.  Seriously, awesome weather- look it up.  And while you’re looking things up on the interwebs, check Red Brick’s site for directions and new beers they have a’brewin.

$8 gets you in with 4 drink tickets, a pint glass to take home, and your ears full of awesome music.  CFD will be performing a good mix of new original song as well as classic covers.  I’m not gonna let the cat out of the bag, but I will say we have a 3-song 80′s mash-up that will make your eardrums want to cry tears of joy… if that were biologically possible.

Bottom line- be outside, hear music, drink beer.  There’s also a solid chance of cornhole boards to be set up.  $8 can buy happiness this Friday.

What do you do with a Drunken Unicorn?

You go see Clap for Daylight inside it!

No- not like cutting open an animal and getting inside vis-a-vis Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back or Man vs. Wild.  The Drunken Unicorn is one of CFD’s most favorite venues to play within walking distance to the Clermont Lounge and we’ll be there next Wednesday February 2nd with The Red River and Ricer.   Other band name alliteration aside, you should come to the show!

Doors open at 9, CFD goes on second. Tix are $5 in advance, $7 day of, and you can get them from Ticket Alternative:

 See you there!

Why not sit in Friday traffic with somthing to look forward to?

CFD and beer fans of all ages! (well, really 21 and up)

Clap for Daylight is once again gracing the yeasty brewery room at the Atlanta Brewing Company.  Come on down after a lackluster day of cublicle work on Friday and have a pint (or eight) with the band.  We’ll be playing from 6-8pm with a break inbetween for the always tasty brewery tour.

Unlike most of our shows, the admission this Friday includes drink tickets AND a pint glass.  I mean, really- what more do you need…   Oh- and we’ll definitely be playing inside where it’s warm.

Oakhurst Arts & Music Festivus!

Okay, it’s not a festivus, but it IS a fantastic arts and musical festival in Decatur.  Oakhurst Square and Harmony Park will be home to tons of artists, food, fun, and of course little ol’ bands like us.  We go on at 1 pm TODAY, but there’s great music all day, so check it!
